Community Led Regneration
This project explored the themes of Alternative Urbanism and Community Development through a short documentary that we created based in Rose Hill, Oxford.
Design Challenge / Aim
We were asked to engage with a local neighbourhood (Rose Hill) and communicate a vision for Community-Led Urban Design Regeneration Project. The challenge was to represent spatial, social, and cultural dynamics through film, using narrative and visual tools to re-imagine Rose Hill as a more inclusive, resilient community.
Approach
We investigated the existing conditions of Rose Hill and its potential for regeneration. We used the medium of film to create a short documentary for alternative urban storytelling which combined site footage, voice-over, and various engaging editing techniques to create a short documentary that focuses on putting the Rose Hill community first. The software that we used was Davinci resolve.
Skills
This project was unique compared to the other design based projects we have previously completed. We learnt how to use Davinci resolve - a video editing app that allowed us to show our design to the community in a different way.
